Year One Report for Ethiopia captures Safe Surgery 2020's impact in Tigray and Amhara
In 2016, Safe Surgery 2020 launched in Ethiopia in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH) and the Regional Health Bureaus, as well as local partners from the Surgical Society of Ethiopia, local teaching institutions and district hospitals.
Our focus has been to help transform the health system to ensure that every individual – including mothers and children – is able to access the surgical care they need quickly, safely, and affordably. We have done this by assisting the FMOH to develop the Saving Lives Through Surgery (SaLTS) strategy and supporting key aspects of its implementation in 10 district hospitals in Amhara and Tigray.
Our Year One Report (2016 - 2017) for Ethiopia details the progress we have made in five main areas: workforce development, leadership transformation program, national surgical planning, innovative infrastructure development, monitoring and evaluation.
